More About Meagan

Hi, I’m Meagan!

I’m the Chief Planning & Investment Officer, Partner, and Co-Founder of SLP Wealth. I genuinely love financial planning. I’m the kind of person who spends a Saturday morning reading about student loan changes or thinking through a better way to explain investing over a cup of coffee. Around here, I lead our client experience and investment management processes and create most of our educational content. So, if you’ve read one of our newsletters, watched a YouTube video, or listened to our podcast, we’ve probably already met.

I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.B.A. in Finance and jumped straight into financial planning because I genuinely love helping people make smart decisions with their money. I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), and Certified Student Loan Professional™ (CSLP®).

I started my own financial coaching business in 2017, helping young professionals navigate budgeting, debt, saving, and student loans. In 2019, I met Travis Hornsby from Student Loan Planner, joined the team as a part-time consultant, and somewhere along the way we realized there was a better way to serve people with significant student loan debt. In 2023, we launched SLP Wealth together with a few partners. The rest isn’t history yet—it’s a story we’re still lucky enough to be writing every day.

One thing you’ll learn about me pretty quickly is that I don’t think financial planning is really about money.

Money is just the tool.

Financial planning is about building a life you genuinely enjoy living.
Sometimes that means paying off student loans. Sometimes it means retiring early, buying your dream home, changing careers, or finally feeling confident enough to stop worrying about money every day. Whatever the goal, I believe your financial plan should support your life—not the other way around.

The numbers matter, of course, but the conversations I love most usually have very little to do with investment returns and everything to do with helping someone feel less stressed, more confident, and excited about where life is headed. Whether we’re deciding when you can retire, how to tackle student loans, whether to buy the dream house, or how to invest through a scary market, our goal here is always the same: help you make decisions that let you enjoy your life a little more.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me hanging out with my husband Kelly, giving our son Rivers approximately 847 unsolicited kisses a day, snuggling on the couch with Boone (our Springer Spaniel), or refereeing whatever chaos Willa (our Bernedoodle) has started that day. I love strength training, cooking, hosting friends and family, and long walks where I somehow end up thinking about financial planning anyway.

We can’t wait to hear your story.
