SLP Wealth (owned by Student Loan Planner) is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable full-time Tax Manager to join our growing financial planning practice. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere with a reliable computer and internet connection. The ideal candidate will be a CPA or EA (or preferably hold both credentials) with a strong understanding of tax planning and preparation, particularly as it relates to individuals with significant student loan debt.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the tax planning, preparation, review, and filing process for approximately 100-200+ individual client tax returns annually.
  • Engage directly with clients and collaborate closely with SLP Wealth financial planners to address tax-related questions and develop effective tax strategies.
  • Actively participate in periodic team meetings covering case studies, company strategy, industry updates, and best practices in tax, student loans, and financial planning.
  • Stay current on relevant tax legislation and student loan news, demonstrating an intellectual curiosity for how tax strategies impact student loan borrowers.
  • Handle necessary administrative tasks associated with the tax preparation, planning, and review process.

Qualifications & Expectations: 

  • Required: CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential (holding both is a plus).
  • Required: Proven experience in individual tax preparation, review, and planning.
  • Required: Demonstrated understanding of student loans and their tax implications.
  • Required: Availability Monday-Friday during standard business hours, with the expectation of required additional availability (potentially evenings/weekends) during peak tax season.
  • Required: Access to a reliable computer and stable internet connection suitable for remote work.
  • Preferred: Experience preparing and filing 100+ business tax returns (including Form 1120-S) since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017.
  • Preferred: A desire to take on increasing responsibility within the tax function over time.
  • Commitment: Willingness to commit to a minimum two-year tenure with SLP Wealth is highly desired.

This role is integral to helping these clients optimize their tax situation, reduce their student loan burden, build wealth, and alleviate financial stress.
